MPLS & LDP Fundamentals

Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a routing technique in telecommunications networks that directs data from one node to the next based on short path labels rather than long network addresses. Label Distribution Protocol (LDP) is often used to distribute these labels.

L3VPNs and VRF

Layer 3 Virtual Private Networks (L3VPNs) allow ISPs to securely isolate customer traffic across a shared MPLS backbone. We will dive into Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF) setup and Route Target configurations.

Segment Routing

Segment Routing (SR) simplifies traffic engineering and management across network domains by removing network state from the transit routers and placing path information into the packet headers at the ingress node.
