Ubiquiti UniFi Guest Portal Setup

The UniFi Guest Portal provides a captive portal experience for guest Wi-Fi networks, allowing you to enforce terms of service, require vouchers, or collect payments before granting network access.

Web GUI Configuration

1. Create the Guest Network:
   • Go to Settings > Networks.
   • Create a new network (VLAN) to ensure guest traffic is isolated from your internal network. Define the VLAN ID and DHCP range. Ensure Guest Network or Network Isolation is enabled if prompted by your gateway.
2. Create the Guest Wi-Fi:
   • Go to Settings > WiFi.
   • Click to create a new SSID.
   • Under the Network dropdown, select the Guest network you just created.
   • Scroll down to the Advanced section and enable Hotspot Portal.
3. Configure the Portal Landing Page:
   • Go to Settings > Profiles > Guest Hotspot (or click the shortcut from the WiFi settings).
   • Alternatively, use the Hotspot Manager to customize the portal design (Logo, Background, Welcome Text) and manage authentication.
   • Choose your Authentication type (e.g., Vouchers, Simple Password, Payment, or No authentication).
   • Set Pre-Authorization Access (or Allowed Authorization Access) if guests need access to specific IPs (like a payment gateway) before logging in.
