Application-Aware Routing

Application-Aware Routing (AAR) allows SD-WAN to track path quality and steer traffic based on application requirements.

SLA Classes

Define the acceptable thresholds for:

• Latency (Delay)
• Jitter (Delay Variation)
• Packet Loss

Probing

Routers actively probe the underlay links (e.g., using BFD or active health checks) to continuously measure path metrics.

Traffic Steering

Traffic is mapped to specific SLA classes. If the primary path violates the SLA, traffic is dynamically steered to an alternate path that meets the criteria.
